I truly was honored to have been invited to this event.  As a matter of fact, when I received the email invitation, I racked my brain wondering who could have possibly invited me because the sender, Dr. Mathylde Frontus, was unknown to me.  I was so excited by the invitation that I just filled out the registration and asked if I could bring one of the board members of Educate Haiti Now, Geri Charles, with me.

I arrived, received the program and realized my friend Dr.  Florence Saint-Jean was going to attend as well.  It turned out that she was the one who included me to be invited.

The morning started with breakfast then we were encouraged to network.  I met some pretty amazing ladies who are doing amazing work in Haiti. After a brief networking session the morning began with Dr. Florence doing a presentation on her organization, Global Trauma Research, an organization that focuses on mental health.

Not too long after the second presenter I got terribly ill and had to be rushed to the emergency room.  I want to thank everyone from Dr. Mathylde and the restaurant workers for making sure I got the help that I needed.  A huge heartfelt thank you to Dr. Florence Saint-Jean who not only was with me through my sickness but also stayed with me at the hospital until I was released.  For that, I will eternally be grateful.
