American Heart/Stroke Association Thank you Celebration/No Disrespect Campaign`
On Tuesday December 2nd I was invited by Maggie Lucien (Executive Director of Brooklyn AHA) to the American Heart Association Heart Walk Thank You Appreciation. After hearing I was the new Mrs. New York, and I live in Brooklyn, Maggie and her Directors wanted to collaborate. So I went to this cool restaurant in Brooklyn where I finally met Maggie and all the lovely people that support the American Heart Association of Brooklyn.
The evening was a time of appreciation for all those that walked and raised money for the Heart Walk . I was encouraged by the people and organizations who raised thousands of dollars for this worthy cause. I was also in awe of the American Heart Association for recognizing those individuals.
Maggie and I spoke about how important awareness is in the mostly Caribbean Brooklyn where the type of ingredients in the cuisine is not always health conscientious. Seeing the support from the Heart Walk, I think Brooklyn is well on their way to being made aware of a healthy lifestyle. Why is it important? As the logo says: Life is Why
December 3rd -The No Disrespect returned to speak to Pre-K to 5th grades in two separate assemblies. This time around they had a speaker named Marjoriet who spoke to the students about bullying. It was heartwarming to see the little ones sharing their thoughts and opinions on what to do if someone is bullying them or someone else. The mantra of the day was: I love my life!!
It was great to once again have Roxie Digital (103.9), Shani (Hot 97), DJ Q, and Marjoriet with us at our school.
