Sunday-Breast Cancer Walk and Gala
Early Sunday morning I woke up to meet my sister queen Elaina (Miss NY International) at Jones beach. We were going to walk on behalf of her friend Dean Nickell who lost his sister to Breast Cancer as well as my own sister (who died last year) and mother-in-law. We began our 3 mile walk and I have to say I was moved by the spirit of everyone there. It was cold and windy but the people's spirits were high and kept us warm. There were countless high fives, chants ("na na na na, na na na kick Cancer good-bye!!") and the stories of survival and loss. Dean was SO thankful we were there but the honor was all ours. When we reached the end, there was a memorandum wall...speechless. It almost seemed sacrilege to take pictures in front of it but many families saw it as a triumph and commemoration of those gone before us. I was blessed to have taken part.
So home me and my sister queen went to get ready for the Diva Dynasty Magazine Breast Cancer Gala.
While I'm writing, I do want tell you about the goodness of GOD. I needed gas for my car and my GPS took me to this gas station that was out of the way. I prayed, Lord please protect me, because I had no clue where I was heading and who I would meet while there. I get to the gas station and meet this eccentric guy pumping the gas. After he pumped my gas he tells me that my left tire needs air. He told me to go pull up by the air pump and he'll check it out. Lo and behold, he found a huge nail on my tire. I almost started to panic, thinking how was I going to get home. He says to me, "don't worry I'll plug it for you it'll take 2 minutes" and he did!! I say a this to say. Here I was worrying and asking GOD to protect me from what I would find there. Meanwhile that's exactly what GOD was doing. Sending me to that gas station, to meet that particular man, to save my life. Lord know what would have happened had I gotten on the highway back to Brooklyn. I praise Him for that!! So off I went to go get ready for the gala. I was an hour away from home. When I reached home, I only had 30 minutes to get ready. As a woman we all know that can be a challenge for some of us, but, I do love a good challenge!
I would like to thank Ms. DivaReba Renee Perry for inviting me and my sister queen Elaina Estrada to an amazing Breast Cancer event. I was entertained, wowed, but most of all I was moved. I was in the presence of earthly guardian angels and freedom fighters. They challenged me to love more, give more, and to dream bigger. Thank you so much!!! You have a great heart Ms. Reba! May the Lord bless you and yours greatly!!
